报告题目：A Lesson from the History of Software Engineering

报告摘要：

Still a young discipline, software engineering has undergone significant changes in the last 20 years. Software development has gone from assembly language programming, to high-level language programming, to object-oriented computing, and now to service-oriented computing. We can learn a lot from the history of software engineering, and we can see that in spite of rapid progress in software engineering, breakthrough ideas still came slowly, and often at the expense of significant research. This talk will examine the history of development of object-oriented programming as encountered in the last 20 years, from its inception, to its rapid rise in popularity, to its maturity. From this history, we can project the roadmap for the growth of service-oriented computing as the history of object-oriented computing provides an excellent reference for comparison. The roadmap will show that we are still at an infancy stage for service-oriented computing, and many exciting results are still yet to come.
